Hurricane Preparedness

Whether you live on the Gulf Coast like me, in the path of Isaac, or on the east coast, which also enjoys its fair share of hurricanes, you may be thinking about hurricane preparedness today.  Even if you dodge Isaac, you need to be ready for the next big storm to come along.  Why not also enjoy some QR cashback while you’re getting ready?  Here are some of my suggestions on stores and items to stock up on:

1.  Lowes (3.1% cashback) – You can buy online and choose same-day store pickup, and still receive QR cashback.  They sell batteries and flashlights, generators, extension cords, and gas cans, plywood and tarps, and more!  Do you have charcoal?  Be ready to cook all that meat that may thaw out in your freezer!

2.  Sears (1.3% cashback) – They also offer cashback for in-store pickup.  Just wait for their email (within 2 hours) saying your order is ready, then pick it up at your favorite Sears location.  Another perk?  $5 off $50+ online orders with coupon code SEARS2012 !  They also sell generators, along with chain saws, tarps, batteries, and more!

3.  Best Buy (1% cashback on most items) – What’s worse than being without power for days at a time?  Being without power AND without your cell phone!  BestBuy sells solar chargers and car chargers to keep your e-devices running, portable DVD players to keep the kids occupied, weather alert radios, crank/solar powered flashlights, and much more!

4.  Amazon (no cashback allowed) – Nothing keeps UPS from delivering, right?  Your local stores may be closed due to bad weather or power outages, but Amazon delivers, and FAST, if you’re an Amazon Prime member.  Amazon Prime is FREE for 3 months for moms and caregivers if you click here to join, and you’ll enjoy free two-day shipping on almost anything sold directly by Amazon.  Go ahead and place your order now for whatever you may think you’re going to run out of — from toilet paper to Pop-Tarts to diapers — and you’ll be greeting Mr. UPS Man at your door in two days!
