With Valentine’s Day coming up later this week, here are some factoids that you may not know about the holiday, courtesy of Wikipedia: almost a billion V-day cards are exchanged worldwide (making it the second-biggest card-giving event behind Christmas), U.S. men spend twice as much as women on average, and SAD (for Singles Awareness Day) is a takeoff on Valentine’s which some folks “celebrate” instead on 2/14. 
It’s also the holiday where I have to fight with my 9 year old about why she has to send a card to everybody in her class “including the dumb boy that nobody likes and the mean one that dumped me because he said I was fat.” Ah, the drama of youth.
